Capture & audio

Audio recording

Record a microphone, supported shared audio, or a mix of both.

Updated 2 min read

Before an important recording, test picture, sound and the saved file. Keep the page open until saving finishes.

Microphone recording on mobile

This mobile version records microphone audio only. For screen recording or shared/system audio, use a compatible desktop browser.

Audio is temporarily saved in this browser. Export each completed segment using Download or Share → Save to Files. Clearing site data or private browsing can remove recordings.

Keep this page visible and your device awake. Switching apps or locking the screen triggers a stop attempt, but may interrupt saving. Export promptly; browser storage is not a backup.

Desktop recording

Audio only creates an audio file without a recorded video track. If shared audio is enabled, the browser still needs a display-source picker, which may display a sharing indicator. The display video is not added to the recorded stream.

How to use it

  1. Choose Audio only. Enable Microphone, Shared audio, or both.
  2. Choose the folder and start. Approve microphone access and any shared source requested by the browser.
  3. Check the actual audio-source status. Record a short spoken sentence and play the saved file before starting a long take.

Limits and safety

When no live audio track is granted, recording does not start. Two sources are mixed with Web Audio gain reduction; this is not a guarantee against clipping or echo. This app does not output the mix to speakers.

A practical test

For a voice note, say a quiet sentence followed by a louder one and listen back using headphones. A live microphone permission is not proof of a useful level or a clean environment. On mobile, complete and export the test before relying on a longer take. A file still held in browser storage is not the same as an exported backup.
